Siemens to release new wireless tools for interventional radiology

Siemens Medical Solutions plans to soon release a pair of new technologies for the AXIOM Artis family for use in interventional radiology, a Wireless Footswitch and Voice Control technology both with applications in x-ray and cath lab suites. Both products are pending 510(k) review and are not yet commercially available, the company said.

The new Wireless Footswitch will be available for the AXIOM Artis angiography and cardiology systems. Users will be able to forget tangled up wires at their feet by eliminating additional cabling on the floor around the examination table.

Siemens' new Voice Control technology will allow clinicians to command the image processing of an AXIOM Artis system directly via voice control signals. By reducing distractions cardiologists should be able to remain focused on the catheter, the images, and the patient.
