Siemens releases new AXIOM Artis dBC Magnetic Navigation System

Siemens Medical Solutions has introduced the AXIOM Artis dBC Magnetic Navigation System, designed to increase the ease and accuracy of catheter-based procedures in efficiency and productivity. The new technology features a biplane configuration, which can be used as either a biplane angiography C-arm system or as a magnetic navigation system, Siemens said.

The system is built on Siemens' AXIOM Artis dBC, a flat detector, biplane angiography system for diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac interventions, as well as AXIOM Artis dFC Magnetic Navigation System, which helps improve navigation of catheter- and guidewire-based devices along paths within the heart and coronary vasculature that are difficult to navigate, Siemens said.

CMS has more than doubled the CCTA payment rate from $175 to $357.13. The move, expected to have a significant impact on the utilization of cardiac CT, received immediate praise from imaging specialists.

The newly cleared offering, AutoChamber, was designed with opportunistic screening in mind. It can evaluate many different kinds of CT images, including those originally gathered to screen patients for lung cancer.
