Siemens to team with eResearch Technology on electronic clinical trial processing technology

Siemens Medical Solutions will embed eResearch Technology Inc.'s (eRT) electronic clinical trial processing technology into Siemens information technology and operations platform.

eRT's applications are designed to replace paper and manual processing associated with conducting clinical trials. The company says the technique can accelerate the speed, enhance the accuracy and reduce the cost of bringing new therapies to market.

The agreement covers eRT's entire product line, including its Enterprise Electronic Data Capture (EDC) platform, eResearch Community portal and eResearch Network integrated back office suite. The suite features clinical data management, trial management and monitoring, and adverse event management and reporting solutions.

eRT and Siemens have agreed to terms for extensions to include enterprise access to eRT's EDC platform for the life sciences market and subsequent extension to the healthcare market for more than 1,500 hospitals served by Siemens.
