SonoSite unveils Titan upgrade at ACOG

SonoSite Inc. has expanded the capabilities of the Titan hand-carried ultrasound system.

The announcement was made at the 52nd Annual Meeting of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) in Philadelphia.

The enhancements include expanded ob/gyn calculations and measurement capabilities that are geared toward obstetricians, gynecologists and fertility specialists. The upgrade will be available to the Titan install base via the system's CompactFlash Card.

The 7.7 pound system is based on SonoSite's proprietary ASIC (application specific integrated circuit) technology, which integrates millions of transistors onto one circuit. The ASIC technology allows for a 12-second boot speed.

SonoSite says customer shipments will begin this week.
