St. Jude's small ICD nets CE Mark
St. Jude Medical has received CE Mark approval of the Ellipse implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD), which is smaller in design.
The Ellipse ICD’s shape, with its angled header and rounded edges, was conceptualized by physicians during focus groups in which they crafted in clay their vision, according to the St. Paul, Minn.-based company. The device contains new features in addition to the set provided in the Fortify ICD, including expanded ShockGuard technology for protection against inappropriate and unnecessary therapy, CorVue congestion monitoring and updated ST monitoring for ischemia-related ventricular arrhythmias.
