University of Rochester to host annual PACS conference in San Antonio
The University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry will hold its fourth annual PACS conference in San Antonio, Texas, on March 10 through 13.
The conference will begin with a full-day practicum with an introduction to HL7 and DICOM, medical informatics, fundamentals of infrastructure, inter-relationship of HIS/RIS/PACS/modalities, role of the PACS administrator, planning for PACS, architectural design to optimize workflow and preparing a PACS RFP (request for proposal).
Conference director Edward M. Smith, ScD, said 20 experts will share their experiences and cover topics related to security, storage technology, clinical compression, non-radiological applications of PACS, digital mammography plus HIPAA and IHE updates.
In addition, more than 40 vendors will provide hands-on opportunities for attendees to evaluate the functionality and productivity of their PACS and related offerings. The conference offers a maximum of 30.25 Category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award.
