Illinois hospital opens new cancer center

Central DuPage Hospital (CDH) has opened a new cancer facility in Warrenville, Ill. After all equipment is installed, CDH Cancer Center and Proton Center will treat an estimated 40,000 patients annually.

The first floor of the new facility will house the new CDH radiation oncology services, featuring high-dose rate brachytherapy, tomotherapy, linear accelerator equipment, CT simulator, dosimetry, intensity-modulated radiation therapy, stereotactic body radiotherapy and PET/CT imaging, said CDH.

The second floor will house Loyola Cancer Care & Research Center at CDH, featuring sub-specialized hematologists/oncologists from Loyola University Health System. The facility also will feature an onsite clinical lab, a pharmacy supporting cancer therapy and an infusion center that includes both private and open treatment rooms, added CDH.

The Warrenville campus will also open the first proton therapy center in Illinois in the fall, located adjacent to the CDH Cancer Center.
