MDS Nordion extends cobalt-60 deal until 2020

Radiotherapeutics company MDS Nordion has extended its agreement with Toronto-based electricity company Ontario Power Generation for the secure supply of cobalt-60 until 2020.

Under the terms of the agreement, Ontario Power will continue to supply MDS Nordion with raw materials for use in the company’s medical sterilization and sealed source products, including cobalt-60, which is used in gamma sterilization technologies. The agreement will also facilitate an additional long-term supply for the company’s global customer base, stated Ottawa-based MDS Nordion.
