Siemens to increase supply of NaF-18 following CMS reimbursement

PETNET Solutions, a subsidiary of Siemens Medical Solutions, is preparing to distribute NaF-18 (sodium fluoride-18) through its network of 47 PET radiopharmacies in the U.S. in support of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) memorandum to allow for coverage with evidence development of NaF-18 PET imaging.

The subsidiary said it is prepared to distribute NaF-18 as the demands increase following the recent CMS reimbursement support of NaF-18 PET imaging to identify bone metastases of cancer.

NaF-18 is an FDA-approved imaging agent and could be an alternative to technetium-99m-labeled diphosphonate agents during the ongoing global shortage, said Siemens.
