ASTRO announces research grant winners

The American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) research evaluation committee has named the recipients of the junior faculty career research training award and the residents/fellows in Radiation Oncology Research Seed Grant Award.

The two-year, $100,000 per year junior faculty career research training award, which provides junior physician faculty with the opportunity to focus on research in radiation oncology, biology, physics or outcomes/health services research has been given to Andrew Elia, MD, PhD, of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, and Steven Lin, MD, PhD, of the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

The residents/fellows in Radiation Oncology Research Seed Grant Award, up to $25,000 each, are given to support residents or fellows who are planning a career focusing primarily on basic science or clinical research and have been presented to Eileen Connolly, MD, PhD, of the New York University Langone Medical Center in New York City, Heath Skinner, MD, PhD, of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, and Meng Welliver, MD, PhD, of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
