FDA clears BSD Medical soft tissue ablation system

Cancer and benign disease equipment manufacturer BSD Medical has been granted FDA clearance to market its soft tissue ablation system, the MicroThermX Microwave Ablation System, in the U.S.

The system includes a microwave generator, single-patient-use disposable antennas and a thermistor-based temperature monitoring system, which utilizes synchronous phased array technology to deliver targeted microwave energy to ablate soft tissue, said the Salt Lake City-based company.

The company expects to receive the CE Mark for marketing in Europe shortly.
