Wake Radiology Launches EnvoyAI Platform in First-of-Kind Implementation

RALEIGH, N.C., May 30, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Artificial intelligence platform provider, EnvoyAITM(www.envoyai.com), recently completed their first successful customer installation at Wake Radiology (www.wakerad.com) in Raleigh, North Carolina.  Wake Radiology is using the platform to provide physicians access to EnvoyAI’s growing marketplace of over 53 Artificial Intelligence (AI) engines that may be applied to their medical imaging studies. Wake Radiology selected EnvoyAI as the fastest and most comprehensive means to achieving a complete AI strategy for the diverse breadth of clinical services that it provides for patients and referring physicians.

With nearly 50 radiologists, Wake Radiology is now able to experiment with scores of new technologies and has already brought 5 of the imaging processing engines to pre-production status with excellent performance and results. “We realize that AI has great potential to improve healthcare by increasing our efficiency and efficacy as providers.  It is important that we embrace the technology early to maximize its effect in our practice and in the lives of our patients.  Implementing EnvoyAI gives our physicians an easy and integrated way to begin interacting with the wide variety of algorithms available on the EnvoyAI ExchangeTM from directly within the PACS environment. Our radiologists can experiment and immediately apply algorithms that impact their workflow and patient care.” shared Chief Medical Officer, Dr. William Way of Wake Radiology.

Wake Radiology’s embrace of the EnvoyAI platform leads the way for physicians, particularly in radiology, who are eager to experience a new paradigm for medical imaging with artificial intelligence. Wake Radiology Chief Information Officer, Matt Dewey, said “Wake Radiology has very stringent security requirements. What would have otherwise been a multitude of unacceptable implementation and security challenges resulting from purchasing algorithms separately, has been simplified into a single turn-key platform. We were very impressed with the depth of thought and creativity that went into designing the EnvoyAI security and workflow features. The implementation was seamless and the technical support has been fantastic.”

The success of EnvoyAI’s initial commercial implementation will be followed quickly by many others around the US, which are already underway.  EnvoyAI CEO, Misha Herscu, shared, “Our goal as a company has always been to empower physicians with the best algorithms available. The innovative spirit and forward thinking of Wake Radiology make them an excellent first site for the platform. It is highly rewarding for our team to see the platform opening doors to real clinical implementation of AI technologies. We have worked very hard to facilitate access for physicians and reduce commercialization barriers faced by developers. We are excited to continue to add more content and features for our users, and are grateful to Wake Radiology for their enthusiasm and engagement on this project.”

About EnvoyAI (www.envoyai.com) EnvoyAI facilitates the streamlined distribution and hospital implementation of trained machine learning algorithms via a vendor neutral distribution platform. EnvoyAI provides a developer platform, integrations, and an open API for algorithm developers, technology partners, and end users. EnvoyAI assists research institutions and emerging AI companies in the translation and commercialization processes, starting with rapid deployment via a scalable, secure, cloud-based infrastructure with the ability to add local components to facilitate on-site deployments as well. EnvoyAI also works with distribution partners to make algorithms on the platform available to a very wide footprint of hospitals and, ultimately, to physicians.

About Wake Radiology (www.wakerad.com)

Founded in 1953, Wake Radiology is the leading provider of outpatient medical imaging in Central North Carolina. Its physicians have been trained as experts in specific imaging specialties – ranging from breast cancer detection and pediatrics to sports medicine and neuroradiology – to accurately diagnose healthcare issues. Another hallmark of Wake Radiology is its commitment to low-dose imaging and the elimination of unnecessary or duplicate exams. This approach strives to improve patient outcomes and reduces the overall cost of healthcare. Wake Radiology is the region’s largest outpatient imaging practice with nearly 50 radiologists who perform close to 600,000 procedures each year. It is the first outpatient imaging provider in the Triangle to earn the American College of Radiology’s prestigious Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation. Wake Radiology is an independent, locally owned and physician-led practice that actively supports the local community.
