Editor's Note:
June's most popular stories highlighted the importance of the radiologist's role in healthcare and, in one case, on the shoreline when a radiologist jumped into action to help save a shark attack victim's life. Off the beach, interventional radiologists were in the spotlight after 'groundbreaking' trial results promised to increase the role of IR in cancer care. Elsewhere, struggles with recruiting interventional specialists caused one hospital to drastically scale back their IR services.
Between these stories and the numerous discussions at SIIM 2024, it should be abundantly clear that radiologists' jobs are secure, as the prophecy that AI would replace them has not played out. Maybe the date was changed...again.
