HHS seeking feedback on changes impacting radiology and informatics communities
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and other health information groups are seeking comments related to interoperability changes that may impact the radiology and informatics communities.
The American College of Radiology highlighted the three opportunities for stakeholder comments in an Aug. 4 update.
1. The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT is asking for suggestions on new data elements and classes to be included in a new version of the U.S. Core Data for Interoperability system. USCDI is a standard set of data classifications and elements used for health information exchange.
Stakeholders must submit use cases, technical specifications, potential challenges, and other information by Sept. 30.
2. The ONC is also seeking comments on the Interoperability Standards Advisory 2022 Reference Edition by Sept. 30. ISA is a list of standards and specifications to enhance healthcare interoperability. This includes radiology topics such as image exchange.
3. Finally, the Sequoia Project, a nonprofit contracted by HHS, is looking for feedback on its newly published draft document—the Qualified Health Information Network Technical Framework.
The document would support the ONC’s Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement initiative, which seeks to establish a universal interoperability floor across the country.
