Ten former executives of Medical Manager charged in fraud scheme

Ten former executives of Medical Manager Health Systems Inc. - formerly known as Medical Manager Corp. - have been charged with participating in a fraud conspiracy to artificially inflate the company's reported earnings by over $16.8 million between the years 1997 and 2001. The executives also were charged with money laundering in connection with the use of the proceeds from the scheme. Medical Manager was a subsidiary of WebMD Corp. (now Emdeon) from 2000 to 2005.

The case is part of a Corporate Fraud Task Force's continuing efforts to prosecute corporate fraud, according to a release from the Department of Justice which coordinates the effort.
