Thomson Micromedex to provide patient education tools to Blausen Medical Communications

Thomson Micromedex has been contracted by Blausen Medical Communications Inc., a provider of scientific and medical illustrations, as the preferred global hospital market supplier of its medical animation products. Micromedex will offer Human Atlas, a collection of 3D animations that help clinicians educate patients on adverse health conditions and treatment options.

Human Atlas is an interactive CD-ROM that provides three-dimensional animated illustrations covering 150 topics that span general health to surgery. Each scientifically accurate animation is approximately one minute in length. Animations are accompanied by narration, still imagery, virtual reality models, and a text transcript. Human Atlas helps hospitals comply with Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) patient education standards.
