SNOMED, HL7 ink 2-year deal to standardize applications
SNOMED International, a division of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) has inked a two-year agreement with Health Level Seven (HL7) which formalizes the long-standing relationship between the organizations aimed to further bind the SNOMED Clinical Terms and the HL7 Reference Information Model (RIM), according to a release.
"The RIM is the cornerstone of the HL7 standard for exchanging messages among information systems that implement healthcare applications," said Franklin R. Elevitch, MD, chair, SNOMED International Authority in a release. "Binding SNOMED CT to the RIM further improve interoperability for all data exchange in healthcare and ultimately improve quality of care and enhance patient safety."
