SIIM 2022: OTech's training assets acquired by SIIM
The Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine announced that they have acquired OTech’s training assets.
A statement was released on June 9, as the annual SIIM conference continues through the weekend at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee, Florida.
“It is my pleasure to inform you that SIIM has acquired OTech's training assets” Marc D. Kohli, MD, Chair of the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) announced during the Opening General Session at #SIIM22. “We are truly grateful to Herman Oosterwijk, former owner of OTech, for entrusting his life’s work to SIIM.”
In addition to eBooks, study guides and a Virtual Hospital Platform simulator for hands-on training that were acquired, SIIM will now also own various “go to market” courses in subjects such as PACS, DICOM, HL7 and FHIR.
SIIM’s Director of Training Kori Stewart, PhD, RT(R)(CT)(ARRT), CIIP, will oversee the acquisitions, which will eventually be available through SIIM’s Learning Management System, SIIMU. SIIMU offers live and on demand educational courses, CME credits and webinars, as well as a slew of other useful resources for imaging informatics professionals.
“The demand for SIIM training, which includes asynchronous and synchronous online courses, as well as custom training for both academic institutions and corporations, has grown tremendously in my seven (7) months since joining SIIM staff,” Stewart said.
SIIM suggests that the trainings are relevant to developers, scientists, vendors, imaging IT professionals, clinicians, biomedical and software engineers, interface analysts, technologists and many other looking to sharpen their skills in the field of imaging informatics.
“The infusion of these newly acquired SIIM training assets into SIIM’s portfolio has already been phenomenal,” Cheryl Kreider Carey, MBA, SIIM CEO, said in a statement.
