EMC rolls out comprehensive storage package
OSF Healthcare System has deployed EMC Corp.'s information lifecycle management (ILM) system.
An integrated network of seven healthcare facilities in Illinois and Michigan, OSF Healthcare is using ILM to meet its rapidly growing data storage and compliance needs.
"Our storage needs are growing by 50 percent annually because of our exploding volume of medical testing," says OSF CIO Mike Naumam.
OSF Healthcare System's 80-tersabyte EMC infrastructure will span multiple storage tiers based on business and the application requirements. The infrastructure includes: a centralized EMC storage area network (SAN) at OSF headquarters composed of EMC Symmetrix storage and EMC Connectrix fibre channel switches for high-end storage; Clariion Fibre Channel storage systems for mid-tier business, clinical and infrastructure systems; and EMC's Centera content addressed storage (CAS) as the archiving methodology for many of OSF's systems, such as PACS.
