Symbol Technologies names Abbott and Collins to new posts

Symbol Technologies Inc. has named Todd Abbott as senior vice president for worldwide operations.

Abbott will have senior executive responsibilities for manufacturing and supply chain operations, as well as his current responsibilities of worldwide sales, vertical marketing, and strategic alliances.

Prior to joining Symbol, Abbott spent eight years with Cisco Systems, where he was group vice president for Cisco's service provider business.

The company also named Thomas Collins as vice president of worldwide supply chain operations. Collins has served at Symbol for the past three years. Collins previously served at Bose Corp., a manufacturer of audio speakers and headphones, where he held manufacturing positions and directed operations at the company's manufacturing facility in Columbia, S.C.
