MAIN's management group acquires diagnostic imaging business
MAIN (Mid-Atlantic Imaging Network) Medical's diagnostic imaging business has been acquired by the company's management and investment group. MAIN Medical, which operates medical imaging centers throughout Pennsylvania (Monroeville, Harmarville, Greensburg, West Mifflin, and Coraopolis) said it will maintain its headquarters in Pittsburgh.
While additional terms of the agreement were disclosed, the company said the acquisition includes the five imaging centers, plus the Mobile Ultrasound division that the former company operated, as well as retaining the rights to the MAIN Medical name. The new MAIN Medical will continue its growth by opening more centers and developing partnering relationships with hospitals and other imaging providers in the region.
According to CEO Anthony Geramita, stricter imaging guidelines recently issued by the region's largest insurer, Highmark, will fit well with the new company's operating plan. Highmark's new privileging guidelines require five modalities and a full-time radiologist.
