IDC previews new X-Series at AHRA
Direct radiography developer Imaging Dynamics Corporation (IDC), showcased its new X-Series of charge-coupled device (CCD) detectors at the American Healthcare Radiology Administrators (AHRA) conference in Orlando, Fla., this week.
The Calgary, Alberta-based vendor exhibited its 1590 X-Series, 1600 Plus X-Series, 1600 X-Series, and 2200 X-Series devices for attendees.
The X-Series line is based on a new family of CCD detectors that features microlenses and lateral overflow drain technology, which IDC said greatly increases dynamic range and quantum efficiency while eliminating the potential for pixel saturation. Each of the DR systems offered in the new X-Series line offers users the choice of either the X4C or X3C detectors.
Both detectors offer an active image size of 43 cm by 43 cm (17-inch by 17-inch), a 14-bit capture depth, and are able to display processed images in approximately 10 seconds. The X4C has a pixel size of 108 microns in a 4,096 x 4,096 (16 Megapixel) configuration that delivers a Nyquist resolution of 4.6 line pairs per millimeter (lp/mm). The X3C detector has a pixel size of 144 microns in a 3,072 x 3,072 (9 Megapixel) configuration that delivers a Nyquist resolution of 3.4 lp/mm. Both the X4C and X3C weigh in at 75 kg (165 lbs.).
The 2200 X-Series system is a traditional two-receptor configuration that includes one detector integrated in a fixed, elevating, 4-way float-top table and a second detector on a vertical stand. This arrangement provides all the advantages of cassetteless DR while reducing the process and positioning adjustments that are sometimes necessary for single-detector systems, IDC said. In addition, the 2200 X-Series can be interfaced to existing X-ray generating equipment to reduce investment cost, according to the company.
The 1600 and 1600 Plus X-Series are a complete DR system comprising a floor-mounted, multi-axis positioning device that also includes the x-ray tube and generator. The 1600 Plus also features an LCD screen for display, arm-angle indicator, motorized collimator and remote control functions.
The 1590 X-Series is a motorized DR system that enables the detector to rotate ±90° and has a stand-movement range of 180°. In addition, an attached control pad with programmable automatic positioning capabilities is included as part of the standard installation.
All four X-Series systems are available for order now, the company said.
