SmartPACS enhances workstation with Provox speech recognition technology
SmartPACS has integrated its diagnostic workstations with Provox Technologies Corp.'s Provox VoxReports radiology speech recognition software.
A single logon activates both systems, with StarPACS driving the HIPAA compliant radiology reporting and workflow management system, SmartPACS said. Provox also incorporates text-to-speech technology to provide spoken field labels within SmartMacro templates. When a patient name is selected from a worklist of unread procedures, relevant data, measurements and other annotations on the image are automatically transferred to a VoxReports template.
VoxReports' SmartMacros also uses a rules-based logic engine to interpret exam procedure codes. Report templates are controlled by voice commands acknowledged by audio cues upon completion, or a high performance microphone may be used for traditional dictation.
Existing SmartPACS customers using StarPACS Version 5.0.3.0 software or higher may upgrade their diagnostic workstations, SmartPACS said. The speech-recognition enhanced workstation will at this year's RSNA, Nov. 28 - Dec. 2, in Chicago.
