Siemens deploys two 64-slice CT scanners
Two leading healthcare facilities have awarded a contract to Siemens Medical Solutions to install its Somatom Sensation 64 CT scanner.
Northwestern Memorial Hospital (NMH) in Chicago and The Ohio State University Medical Center (OSUMC) both purchased a CT scanner. Siemens 64-slice Somatom offers high performance features such as z-Sharp Technology that doubles the scanner's data acquisition capacity. The scanner also can acquire images of the smallest intracranial, pulmonary, mesenteric and peripheral vessels in less than 10 seconds, Siemens said.
The Somatom Sensation 64, cleared for the U.S. market in April 2004, provides 64-slices per rotation for sub-millimeter volume coverage, as well as a fast gantry rotation time at 0.33 seconds. The new system delivers optimal image quality in cardiac, neurology and body imaging applications with a spatial resolution of 0.4 mm, said Siemens.
