Partnerships: Kodak and Siemens; Misys and mTuitive
Eastman Kodak has integrated Siemens Medical Solutions’ FUSION7D software that enhances visualization of cancerous tumors and lesions into the latest version of its KODAK CARESTREAM PACS platform. This optional feature is available immediately in the United States, Canada and Europe. Image fusion software creates a composite image by overlaying image data from PET, CT, SPECT and MR systems so that oncologists have better visualization of anatomic and metabolic information and can more confidently assess tumor volumes and disease progression. Siemens’ FUSION7D software provides advanced visualization tools and registration capabilities that govern how the images are overlaid. This software can be activated from a KODAK PACS workstation by clicking a single button, making it easy for clinicians to use. Four software tiers allow facilities to purchase appropriate functionality for their applications. Each tier can be upgraded at any time.
Health IT developer Misys Healthcare Systems announced a partnership with mTuitive to offer a combined system for cancer diagnosis in anatomic pathology laboratories that is able to make protocols more easily available to clinicians to decrease transcription and other costly services, and to boost accuracy and immediacy of cancer diagnosis. mTuitive is a developer of software that assists healthcare professionals in recording clinical findings according to established protocols and guidelines, to provide a structured data reporting (synoptic analysis) system for anatomic pathology laboratories. Misys’ CoPathPlus now adopts mTuitive’s interactive software product, xPert for Pathology, for reporting malignant tumors according to the College of American Pathologists’ Protocols.
