IBA, Turkish government close financing of cyclotron facility
Ion Beam Applications (IBA) has closed its financing with Turkish Atomic Energy Authority, the governmental body in Ankara, Turkey, for the delivery of systems and equipment of a proton accelerator facility to produce radioisotopes with IBA’s cyclotron.
The facility will also serve as a site for research activities in various areas, according to the Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium-based company.
The project encompasses IBA's Cyclone 30, a new high-current version of the 30 MeV (Million electron Volts) cyclotron.
The company said the proton accelerator is designed for use in the medical and research fields, and produces SPECT and PET radioisotopes used on a daily basis by nuclear medicine and medical imaging services in hospitals to perform clinical diagnostics in oncology, cardiology and neurology.
The facility will also serve as a site for research activities in various areas, according to the Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium-based company.
