New Products: IBM, MedOrder, MEDISON, NetApp
IBM today introduced its new Virtualization Manager dashboard, a system that can assist companies in monitoring and managing virtual and physical computing resources from a common portal, including IBM and non-IBM systems and software. Part of IBM's Systems Director family, the new IBM Virtualization Manager reduces the number of management tools needed to support multiple types of servers. The system’s dashboard operates in a web-based user interface and allows businesses to manage technology resources like they would a financial portfolio, moving computing workloads to key areas of the data center that will drive productivity, identify problems in the infrastructure, grow existing workloads, and add or delete computing resources. This is the first technology in the industry to work across multiple major virtualization platforms, IBM said, and includes initial support for VMware, Microsoft Virtual Server, Xen and POWER-based virtualization offerings. Clients also can leverage the capabilities of VMware's VirtualCenter by integrating it into IBM Director to provide a single point of management.
Health IT vendor MedOrder announced Actionable Reports, a tool that is designed to enable radiologists to make imaging recommendations to referring clinicians and receive immediate follow-up, and to track what happens when the referring clinician receives their report. Actionable Reports are an addition to MedOrder’s NavRAD RIS/PACS. Other features include notifications to referring MD's through email when a new report is ready. By clicking on a link to NavRAD’s physician portal, doctors are taken directly to the report. The Actionable Reports feature will present them with a list of follow-up options. If they select an option to order an imaging study, they can place the order with a single mouse-click and forward the order to their staff to communicate with the patient.
MEDISON, based in Seoul, Korea, is introducing the multi-modality ultrasound system called SonoAce X8. The system integrates new smart software protocol-based ultrasound and allows users to modify system controls with simple, intuitive steps using new software protocols. SonoAce X8 features a wide variety of premium functions including; high-resolution 3D imaging, Live 3D, 3DXI, Full Spectrum Imaging, Dynamic MR as well as Spatial Compound Imaging. SonoAce X8 will be commercially available in early 2007.
Network Appliance Inc. today extended its data center portfolio with the addition of its new highest performing midrange platforms, the FAS3070 and V3070 series; broader Fibre Channel (FC) storage area network (SAN) capabilities; significant enhancements and introductions in the NetApp Manageability Software Family; and new professional services. The company said these additions are all aimed at making enterprise data center management easier for customers who demand high-performance SAN solutions and increased application uptime to meet their business needs.
