Executive announcements: A-Life, iCAD, Medical, NightHawk, Radlink, Viztek

A-Life Medical, a provider of natural language processing (NLP) for the healthcare industry, appointed Thomas D. Bang as president and chief executive officer. Bang has held executive level positions in prominent businesses throughout his 30-year career, including the Pyxis Corporation (Cardinal Health); MediTROL Automation Systems (Owen Healthcare); Baxter International and American Hospital Supply Corporation.


iCAD announced that Steven Rappaport, a partner with RZ Capital, LLC, and Dr. Lawrence Howard, general partner of Hudson Ventures, L.P. have been appointed to its board of directors. Since July 2002, Rappaport has been a partner of RZ Capital, LLC, a private investment firm. Since March 1997, Howard has been a general partner of Hudson Ventures, L.P. (formally known as Hudson Partners, L.P.) as well as a managing member of Hudson Management Associates, LLC, which provides management services.


NightHawk Radiology Holdings announced the appointment of Timothy M. Mayleben as its chief operating officer. Mayleben has been a member of NightHawk's board of directors since March 2005. Prior to his appointment as COO, Mayleben served as the chairman of NightHawk's audit committee and was a member of the compensation committee. Prior to joining NightHawk in March 2005, he served as COO and CFO of Esperion Therapeutics.


Radlink announced the election of Judith D. Licklider to their board of directors. Licklider has more than 35 years of experience as a business executive and board member at various organizations. She was a training director at Sawyer Business College, spent five years in the marketing division at IBM and was the founder of Cyberlink Voice Messaging. In addition, she has served on the board of directors for a number of major organizations in Los Angeles.
 

Hillel Bachrach has been appointed chairman of the board of medical software company Viztek. Bachrach will oversee the company’s strategic expansion efforts and infrastructure enhancement to assist the planned growth. Bachrach brings to Viztek over 30 years of experience managing and directing medical technologies companies. In 1993, Bachrach co-founded ESC Medical Systems (now Lumenis), one of the first medical laser/flash lamp companies addressing cosmetic applications. In 1999, Bachrach co-founded MSq, another innovator in the medical laser field. Recently, Bachrach served as CEO of Orex Computerized Radiography, a manufacturer of computerized radiography systems and software. Currently, Hillel Bachrach also is the managing partner of 20/20 HealthCare Partners, which provides equity financing for promising healthcare growth businesses as well as for buyouts and recapitalizations of established medical technology companies.
