Executive announcements: Digital Healthcare, Eclipsys, IDC, Merge, Viztek

Cambridge, England-based Digital Healthcare (DH), a supplier of software for diabetic retinal imaging programmes and ophthalmology, appointed Jeff Gordon as chairman and managing director. Gordon joins DH after a career spanning 28 years in the ICT industry that has included senior management roles with Unisys. DH anticipates that Gordon will play a key role in helping the company become a leading global provider of innovative software for diabetic retinal screening programs and ophthalmology.


Eclipsys Corporation named Nitin Deshpande as president of its India operations, where he will be responsible for managing all day-to-day operations of Eclipsys India. Deshpande comes from BMC Software, an enterprise management software provider, where he served as president and chief executive officer of the company's operations in India.  Prior to BMC, Deshpande managed all the strategic business units and delivery support functions at Geometric Software and Solutions, a provider of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Product Development Management (PDM) services and solutions.


Imaging Dynamics Company appointed Garry Zurowski, B Comm, CA. to the board of directors. Zurowski is a retired partner of Collins Barrow Calgary LLP, Chartered Accountants, with experience in private and public companies including manufacturing, and property developers. He has been a director of Global Railway Industries Ltd. since December 2005.


Merge Healthcare promoted Gary D. Bowers to president, Merge Healthcare North America, reporting directly to Kenneth D. Rardin, president and CEO of Merge Healthcare. Bowers will manage the company’s North America sales and business development channel, which provides medical imaging workflow software solutions to hospitals, imaging centers and specialty clinics throughout the United States and Canada. The role had been temporarily filled by Rardin. Bowers joined Merge Healthcare in September 2006, serving as senior vice president, Strategic Business Initiatives, and most recently led Merge Healthcare's onshore/offshore development, service and support initiative in Pune, India. Previously, he was senior vice president, Product Technology for Park City Solutions, and was a general partner of Rardin Capital Management, a technology and financial consulting firm. He also served in multiple senior executive roles at IMNET Systems.


Radlink appointed Luke Huang as president. Huang will report to chairman and CEO Thomas Hacking. Richard Gerlach, who founded the company and most recently served as president, will assume the title of founder and distinguished scientist and will continue to remain active on the board of directors.

Huang most recently worked at Radlink as an executive engineer and has been instrumental in the maturation of Radlink's CR Pro imaging system and the conception and development of the company's Pro Imaging products and integrated solutions, the company said.

Previously, Huang has worked and consulted on a variety of innovative medical and non-medical products for a wide range of Fortune 500 and Global 500 companies including UCLA Hospital, DirecTV, Canon, Washington Mutual, Procom, Starwood, Toshiba, Safeco and Starz.


Roger Davis has been named chief executive officer for Jacksonville, Fla.-based medical software company Viztek. Davis will build internal operations to support Viztek's rapidly accelerating growth as it expands sales and marketing efforts and moves into new medical specialties and product categories. Most recently, Davis was a vice president for GE Healthcare/IDX Systems Corporation where he was responsible for the expansion of the IDX consulting practices and its entry into healthcare business processing outsourcing. Prior to this, he was an executive vice president at Xtria Healthcare responsible for the development of this healthcare business unit of Xanser.
