Executive announcements: Spentel, TechniScan, Tyco Healthcare, U.S. Preventive Medicine

Medical transcription application service provider Spantel appointed Dale Kivi as vice president of business development.  Kivi formerly served as vice president of business development at CyMed. In his new role, Kivi will direct the healthcare technology company’s marketing, sales and customer relationship management efforts. Kivi brings over 20 years of healthcare and technology marketing experience to Spantel, having spent five years with CyCare Systems (now part of McKesson), seven years with Siemens, and four years with CyMed.


Kenneth G. Hungerford, II, CEO of ADAC Automotive, has joined the Board of Directors of TechniScan Medical Systems, a Salt Lake City-based developer of ultrasound technology for breast imaging. Also, John C. Klock, MD, has joined the board. Klock is a board-certified internist and hematologist-oncologist, and the chairman and co-founder of Holistica Hawaii Preventive Medicine.


Tyco Healthcare appointed Timothy R. Wright as president of its $1.2 billion pharmaceutical products business and its $900 million Imaging Solutions business, which provides a full line of radiopharmaceuticals and contrast media delivery systems for the early diagnosis and treatment of disease.
 
A former interim CEO and member of the board of directors at AAIPharma, Wright brings more than 20 years of pharmaceutical industry experience to his new role as leader of overall management and strategic direction for two of Tyco Healthcare’s most important business segments. 


U.S. Preventive Medicine appointed Douglas S. Peters as chair of the Advisory Board of the U.S. Prevention Network, the first national network of health systems and physician groups focused exclusively on prevention. The Network will encompass Centers for Preventive Medicine, where individuals can access a comprehensive suite of clinically appropriate diagnostic tests and sophisticated imaging studies. It will also offer The Prevention Plan, a benefit that will make preventive health services available to employees through their employers.

Peters is the former president and CEO of the Jefferson Health System, a multi-hospital system located in Philadelphia, Pa. Prior to his retirement in 2002, his 35-year career in healthcare included serving as president of the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit and in senior executive roles with the following provider organizations: Blue Cross & Blue Shield Association, Chicago; the University of Nebraska Hospital & Clinics, Omaha; and the University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor.
