Novosound earns patent for wearable ultrasound that monitors blood pressure
Scottish health tech company Novosound has secured a patent for its ultrasonic instrumentation system, marking its 21st patent since 2018.
The patent is for a wearable ultrasound, strapped onto the body to produce images on mobile devices, such as tablets and smartphones. In the patented use case, the device is secured to a patient for constant monitoring of blood flow and pressure.
Earning the patent allows Novosound to engage in research and development contracts for consumer digital health applications The patent also grants the company exclusive rights to sell the technology while continuing research and pilot projects with major tech companies and healthcare institutions.
In a statement, Novosound says it is partnering with the Texas Medical Center to further develop use cases and improvements for its ultrasound wearables.
