Planmed
Planmed (Booth 7307) is demonstrating the Nuance Excel full-field digital mammography (FFDM) unit, which is pending FDA approval. The Nuance Excel exposes women to significantly lower levels of radiation during a digital mammography exam, thanks to proprietary TriFilter technology with the new tungsten x-ray tube, the company says. This new technology uses less than 60 percent of the dose normally used in conventional digital mammography. In combination with the high performance, 24x30 cm amorphous selenium-based direct digital detector and dedicated image processing, the unit excels in image quality and diagnostic performance. The new Nuance Excel also incorporates the MaxView Breast Positioning System and Side Access patient positioning system for improved mammography imaging workflow and results.
The Nuance and Nuance Excel also can be equipped with Planmed’s lightweight digital stereotactic system, Nuance DigiGuide, which is also pending FDA approval. With its simple graphical user interface (GUI) and compact size, the Planmed Nuance DigiGuide offers fast and easy stereotactic procedures, as well as unlimited connectivity to the hospital information systems and PACS.
To encourage good working ergonomics, Planmed is introducing at RSNA 2008 a new, completely motorized workstation—the Planmed Nuance Acquire Station for the Nuance Excel FFDM unit. This dedicated acquisition station features, in addition to motorized height adjustment, smoothly closing drawers and a keyboard tray, as well as optional swivel display arm with integrated cable management for mounting a high-resolution acquisition display. With the swivel arm, the display can be turned to the other side of the radiation shield.
