Florida hospital terminates contract with radiology group
Florida Hospital of Orlando, Fla., part of Adventist Health System, is ending its contract with Florida Radiology Associates, and looking for a new radiology group.
Yearlong talks with Florida Radiology Associates—which Florida Hospital reports has provided its radiology services since 1968—broke down in December 2007, according to the Orlando Sentinel. The contract with the Altamonte Springs medical group, which includes about 40 radiologists, ends June 3.
Officials with Florida Radiology Associates did not comment to the Sentinel on the negotiations or what their plans are after the contract ends. However, the radiology group's website now lists 13 locations, all except its Altamonte Springs office, which are part of the Florida Hospital system.
According to Florida Hospital, the radiology group decided to terminate the contract. Spokeswoman Samantha O'Lenick told the Sentinel that the hospital system would soon sign an exclusive contract with another large radiology group, to take effect June 4 "so there is no interruption in service." She said an announcement of the new contract is expected within days or weeks.
Florida Hospital is an acute-care healthcare system with approximately 3,000 beds throughout Central Florida.
