Philips Electronics to join Healthcare segment in Massachusetts

Philips Healthcare, which has its headquarters in Andover, Mass., is expected to announce that its U.S. parent company Philips Electronics North America is moving its North American headquarters to the same location.

Philips Electronics North America is currently headquartered in New York City, under the umbrella of Amsterdam-based Royal Philips Electronics. 

Mass. Selectman Brian Major, a Philips Healthcare employee, broke the news at a town meeting this week, according to the Eagle Tribune.

Philips Healthcare currently employs 2,200, the Tribune has speculated whether the move will create more jobs in the area.

Mass. Gov. Deval Patrick and local state legislators are expected to be in town for the announcement early next week.

Philips Healthcare, which has been in Andover since 2000 when it took over Agilent Technologies, paid out close to $1.1 million in taxes to Andover last year, according to the Tribune.
