Agfa hires former Siemens exec Wetekam as exec VP for healthcare IT

Agfa HealthCare has hired Volker Wetekam, MD, as its new executive vice president for its global healthcare IT division.

Wetekam will head an operation of around 3,000 staff members and report directly to Christian Reinaudo, president of Agfa HealthCare. The company said it will take up his new position on Sept. 15.

In his new role, Wetekam will define and implement the strategic positioning and roadmap for Agfa’s IT division, which manages both the company's imaging informatics and its enterprise IT business, covering solutions from PACS over cardiovascular information systems to hospital and clinical information systems, the company said.

Agfa said that Wetekam has been the head of Siemens Medical Solutions’ managed services, turnkey, eHealth and consulting business in healthcare since October 2004.
