MedcomSoft to participate in Maryland EHR initiative

The Maryland Health Care Commission (MHCC) has chosen MedcomSoft to participate in the Maryland EHR adoption acceleration program.

The MHCC is an independent state regulatory agency that is committed to advancing the adoption and utilization of health IT to improve the quality, safety and efficiency of healthcare delivery.

The Maryland EHR adoption acceleration program will be operational for five years, according to the Atlanta-based MedcomSoft.

The first operational year of the demonstration will provide payments to participating practices based on EHR functionalities certified by the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology used to manage the care of patients, with higher payment for more sophisticated healthcare IT use, such as the use of the EHR to facilitate care management activities and sharing of records among care providers.
