West Virginia hospital deploys Medsphere EHR system
Medsphere Systems, a provider of open-source healthcare IT solutions, has implemented its OpenVista EHR system at John Manchin Sr. Health Care Center, a 41-bed, long-term care facility and outpatient clinic in Fairmont, W.Va.
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources selected OpenVista in April 2006 to standardize access to patient health records, as well as clinical, operational and administrative systems, at state-run facilities. The implementation makes Manchin the seventh and final healthcare facility in West Virginia’s network of acute, long-term and ambulatory treatment centers to go live with OpenVista, according to the Carlsbad, Calif.-based Medsphere.
The company said that the program allows personnel to document patient care, obtain the current information and access all records from multiple locations, creating a closed-loop, electronic repository of patient data.
