Ohio health system to partner with cardiology consultant group
ProMedica Health System (PHS) and Northwest Ohio Cardiology Consultants (NWOCC) have formed a partnership to join ProMedica Physician Group, a member of the Toledo, Ohio-based PHS, with NWOCC, effective March 1.
NWOCC, headquartered in Toledo, Ohio, also has numerous offices throughout the region, including in Bowling Green, Fremont, Wauseon, Napoleon, Tecumseh, Port Clinton and Adrian. Currently, the group serves 105,000 patients. NWOCC said that there will be no change in services provided to its patients, and operations will remain the same.
“Working with our other cardiac and vascular experts, NWOCC’s physicians will further advance ProMedica’s mission, including the development of the system’s Heart and Vascular Institute,” according Alan W. Brass, FACHE, CEO of PHS.
Paul Berlacher, MD, of NWOCC, agrees the integration “will position us to meet the increasing demand for cardiovascular services more effectively, while enabling us to better manage the cost associated with rapidly advancing technology in the treatment of cardiovascular disease.”
PHS is a not-for-profit healthcare organization with 15,000 employees, 70 corporations and joint ventures, 2,900 physicians and more than 282 facilities in Ohio and Michigan. ProMedica facilities treated more than 2.5 million patients in 2006 and includes 10 hospitals.
