Ohio VA facility begins multimillion dollar renovations

The Chillicothe Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center has put a 10-year renovation plan into high gear, with plans to expand existing lab space for nuclear medicine and imaging equipment.

The projects planned for the year will cost about $34.3 million. Maintenance construction accounts for $12 million of the figure. Last year, the VA spent $16 million on maintenance construction, according to Chillicothe Director Jeff Gering.

On the medical side of operations, the Chillicothe, Ohio-based VA will be expanding its lab area to provide more space for MRIs, CTs and nuclear medicine at Building 31 for about $4.5 million, Gering noted.

The Chillicothe VA and its five outlying clinics service about 20,000 patients annually.
