SonoSite appoints Bowers as new exec

SonoSite, a developer of hand-carried ultrasound systems for point-of-care, has appointed John S. Bowers, Jr. as senior vice president of strategic development and patient safety innovations.

Bowers has held a number of general management, business development and sales management leadership roles, according to the Bothell, Wash.-based company. Most recently, he served as president and CEO of Northstar Neuroscience, a medical device company developer of treatments for neurological diseases and disorders. Prior to Northstar, Bowers spent 14 years at Guidant and Eli Lilly in management positions.
