CMS launches Medicare provider satisfaction survey

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is giving 30,000 randomly selected providers the opportunity to participate in its fifth annual Medicare Contractor Provider Satisfaction Survey (MCPSS).

Those providers selected to participate are being notified this month. The agency said the survey provides Medicare fee-for-service (FFS) contractors the ability to give feedback to CMS on their perceptions in seven areas: claim processing, provider inquiries, outreach and education, appeals, provider enrollment, medical review and provider audit and reimbursement. According to CMS, these FFS contracts process and pay more than $370 billion in claims per year.

The survey, which can be accessed on the CMS Web site by chosen participants, will be sent to physicians, healthcare practitioners, suppliers and institutional facilities at random, who service Medicare beneficiaries across the U.S.

According to CMS, results of the survey will be analyzed and released in the summer 2010.
