Volcano lands CE mark for balloon catheter

Volcano’s Vibe RX vascular balloon catheter, that combines intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and balloon dilation tools, has received a CE mark of approval.

According to San Diego-based Volcano, the image-guided tool can access, prepare and assess lesions during interventional procedures.

The Vibe RX can be used with the company’s s5 and s5i imaging platforms. Shipment of Vibe RX throughout Europe is estimated to begin in the third quarter of 2010, according to Volcano.
