FDA greenlights Mylan's generic form of Zocor

The FDA has granted Matrix Laboratories Limited, a subsidiary of Mylan, approval for an abbreviated new drug application for simvastatin, a generic form of Merck's Zocor, which is indicated for the treatment of high cholesterol.

The generic simvastatin will be approved in 5, 10, 20, 40 and 80 mg and distributed by Pittsburg-based Mylan.
