Awarepoint acquires Patient Care Technology
Awarepoint, a provider of real-time location system (RTLS) tools for hospitals, has acquired Patient Care Technology Systems (PCTS).
PCTS' enterprise workflow software platform and clinical applications are in use in 60 hospitals. Its Amelior Enterprise Visibility and Workflow Automation RTLS suite is compatible with active-RFID, infrared, ultrasound, ultra-wideband, Wi-Fi and ZigBee technologies, according to AwarePoint, of San Diego. Awarepoint's ZigBee RTLS platform is installed at 93 hospitals and manages 150,627 assets, Awarepoint stated.
Corporate headquarters will remain in San Diego and PCTS will continue to operate its Charlotte, N.C., office. The PCTS executive team will remain intact and report to Jay Deady, Awarepoint’s CEO. Awarepoint’s board of directors also will remain unchanged.
Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
