ACA employer mandate delayed
Employers with 50 to 99 full-time workers won’t face a penalty for failing to provide insurance to employees until 2016, according to the Obama administration and Treasury Department officials.
Originally, the Affordable Care Act mandated that employers with at least 50 full-time workers had to offer coverage or be subject to a fee of at least $2,000 per worker starting in 2014. This requirement was later delayed until 2015.
In addition to further delaying the mandate, the recent announcement also said larger companies that demonstrated they were offering coverage to at least 70 percent of workers could avoid some penalties in 2015.
