WMIC 2014 in Seoul is seeking abstracts
Not for another several months, the 2014 World Molecular Imaging Congress (WMIC) is scheduled to take Seoul, Korea, by storm from Sept. 17-20, but this week the Scientific Program Committee has made a formal request for abstracts to be submitted for presentation.
The 2014 WMIC will be focusing on the development of new biomarkers and on new understanding in disease pathology in five major areas of research: chemistry and imaging probes, first-in-human and clinical studies, preclinical cell and tissue level studies, preclinical in vivo studies and technology and software developments.
"This year's theme, 'Propelling Discoveries with Molecular Imaging,' emphasizes the global trend and need to incorporate molecular imaging in research and medicine to discover new targets and agents, visualize and learn about disease, and to build a bridge to optimal patient outcomes and cures," said Marty Pagel, PhD, associate professor of Biomedical Engineering, University of Arizona, and 2014 WMIC program chair.
Again this year, the Young Investigator Award will provide one research finalist a reward of $2,000. The winner of this competition will present his or her research during the closing ceremony of the conference. Two other researchers will receive runners-up awards of $500 each.
Abstract submissions will be accepted from now until April 1.
