CMS overhauls doctor payment website

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has relaunched its Open Payment website. The general impression is that the new site is worlds easier to navigate than its original launch.

The site has reported that in the last five months of 2013, a total of $3.5 billion payments were made to doctors on behalf of drug and medical device companies, according to this report from the Wall Street Journal.

CMS has more than doubled the CCTA payment rate from $175 to $357.13. The move, expected to have a significant impact on the utilization of cardiac CT, received immediate praise from imaging specialists.
