Stem cells engineered to fight brain cancer
Toxins produced by highly specialized stem cells work to treat brain cancer. Researchers from Harvard Medical School are the engineers behind these killer stem cells.
The research is still in the preclinical phase, but results have already shown how these cells can fight brain tumors while sparing healthy cells and tissues.
“We do see the toxins kill the cancer cells,” said Khalid Shah, PhD from the Harvard Stem Cell Institute, in this BBC report. Human studies are forthcoming.
