Claron debuts major enhancements for Nil enterprise viewers

November 28, 2014, Toronto—Claron Technology, a leading developer of software for enterprise imaging and advanced visualization, debuts at RSNA 2014 market-leading enhancements for its enterprise-class Nil viewer.

New is the ability to display radiation plans across the enterprise, including support for contour sets, isodoses, dose graphs and beams.

“Radiation Therapy (RT) is a part of DICOM not normally supported by enterprise viewers and PACS solutions.  RT data remains isolated in the radiation therapy department and can only be visualized with dedicated tools that do not support most other clinical data in the patient record,” says Claudio Gatti, Co-CEO for Claron.  “With this introduction, Claron builds on the strong foundation of Nil already supporting volumetric regions of interest and other advanced visualization techniques.  Leveraging this, we set out to break another barrier and seamlessly integrated RT data into the patient record.  It is now possible to review and approve an RT plan anywhere on any device, similarly to any of the vast number of Nil supported sub-specialty data types.”

Another significant enhancement is the support for sub-specialty worklists and work folders.  A worklist can be defined with custom queries from federated archives and present a sub-specialty-friendly view of a large VNA archive.  Work folders can be designated as either public or private, and sets of studies can be earmarked for a round or a department-specific group of teaching files. Nil continues to support the widest range of mobile devices in the industry, now including the latest iPhone 6, BlackBerry Passport, Android and Windows devices.

“Nil enterprise viewers are now employed broadly worldwide,” says Reuven Soraya, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for Claron.  “With today’s focus on image sharing, vendor neutral archiving and data standardization, Nil technology provides a pathway to the future.  As data from more departments starts to be available in the patient record, Nil is helping to enable universal information accessibility.  Claron is proud to offer the most comprehensive viewer on the market, which is helping to improve the standard of patient care in a full range of medical settings.”

NilRead and NilShare can be integrated into any DICOM network and are available as turn-key systems for hospitals, imaging groups and radiology practices.  Nil uses highly optimized client-server communications to remain responsive even over connections with limited bandwidth and high latency, such as cellular 3G.
