Toshiba’s Aquilion Lightning Lowers the Cost of Ownership for Entry-Level CT Systems

CHICAGO, Nov. 29, 2015 – Toshiba is reducing the cost of CT system ownership with the launch of the all-new Aquilion LightningTM. The reliable, premium-component, entry-level system provides an economic advantage for healthcare providers looking to maximize their equipment investment. The Aquilion Lightning is a 16 detector row system with a small footprint to allow providers to save on both space and cost. These savings do not come at the sacrifice of premium technology as the system utilizes the same PUREViSION CT Detector technology that is used in premium Toshiba CT systems and includes AIDR 3D Enhanced (Adaptive Iterative Dose Reduction 3D Enhanced) to help reduce dose. In addition, Adaptive Diagnostic solutions, such as Single Energy Metal Artifact Reduction (SEMARTM) and SURESubtractionTM, help simplify complex scans for more consistent imaging. These technologies, along with the industry’s thinnest slices, at 0.5 mm, and a 78-cm bore that is the widest in the 16-row detector radiology segment, help optimize workflow and patient comfort. “The Aquilion Lightning embodies Toshiba’s promise to provide customers with the industry’s best solutions on every scanner,” said Satrajit Misra, vice president, Marketing, Toshiba. “This system ensures customers don’t need to compromise quality to meet their business goals, by reducing their total cost of ownership and helping them meet XR-29 compliance standards. As our CT business continues to grow, we are proud to give our partners the best in value, reliability and technology no matter the price point.”Toshiba will showcase the Aquilion Lightning CT system at this year’s Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting in Chicago, November 29 - December 4, 2015 (Booth #7336, North Hall). About Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc.With headquarters in Tustin, Calif., Toshiba America Medical Systems (TAMS) markets, sells, distributes and services radiology and cardiovascular systems, including CT, MR, ultrasound, X-ray and cardiovascular equipment, and coordinates clinical diagnostic imaging research for all modalities in the United States.
